Homemade Hungarian ‘cream-slice’ cake:
Ingredients:
~1L vegetable milk (I used Alpro)
120 gr of vegetable margarine (I used Bio)
100 gr of sugar (I used raw brown sugar)
1 package vanilla sugar (or essence)
30-40 gr of Starch (potato, corn, etc.)
1 pinch of curcuma (for the colour)
1-2 package of puff pastry (it depends in what form and size
it comes)
The magic:
1. Start by
putting 7 dl of plant milk, the veg. margarine, sugar and vanilla into a pot
and start to cook it.
2. While its
cooking take app. 2 dl of plant milk and whisk it until smooth with the dietary
starch and the curcuma
3. Add this to
the pot and cook it until it starts to become a cream. (if its stays too liquid
add some more starch or flour)
4. Half the
pastry, put it in the oven, 180 degree, and fry for about 10-15 minutes (until
its done)
5. Take it out,
put the half of it on a tray, smear/ distribute the cream over it and put the
other half of the pastry on the top of the cream. That’s it! J
6. From this,
approx. 8 large pieces will be!
